about the art

No paintings are ever done from photographs, only from observation.

Mimi personally beachcombs for Maine seashells - not tropical or purchased shells.

Archival hot press paper & hot press matte are used.

Paintings are sized by the outside of the matte.

Prices do not include tax, shipping or insurance.
Small pieces may be sent through mgc studio gallery by US Postal. Larger, heavier pieces must be shipped by other means.

Many mattes on both originals and reproductions have been Remarqued (R) - hand painted from the inside image out through the matte.

Frames vary:
fancy (
),
most are done in a brown stained (B) distressed wood
or
pewter/silver (S) distressed wood
and some are matted but unframed (U).

Giclées are a high end reproduction, done on archival paper and tested to withstand sun and water. They are produced one sheet at a time and have low limited editions.
Remember that these are reproductions and should not be called prints
(prints are originals - pulled by the artist),
Some Giclées are available several ways:
as paper - Matted (M),
paper Matted and Remarqued (MR),
paper Matted, Remarqued and Framed (MRF),
- and canvas (C) - not framed but bound.
